Future Retail – The future trends in retail

On 7 July 2022, the online event Future Retail took place digitally with four top-class experts. The focus was on numerous future-oriented topics for retail, such as metaverse, sustainability and omnichannel. You couldn't be there? No problem – all four presentations were recorded and can be streamed here free of charge.

Keynote – Retail 2022 Transformation and repositioning: Stefan Genth, Managing Director of Deutscher Handelsverband e.V.

What is "the new normal"? And for which visions of the future do we need to set the course now, as they will soon be part of daily business? Keynote speaker Stefan Genth, HDE CEO, will address the current situation and developments in the retail sector and shift the focus from the challenges to new perspectives. In his presentation "Retail 2022: Transformation and Repositioning", he also talks about new consumer behaviour and the tension between city centres and online platforms.

Hype or Future? Metaverse & Web3 for trade & brands, Stefan Wenzel, Board Advisor

Stefan Wenzel, Board Advisor, will address the new topics of Metaverse & Web3 and ask: Hype or future - what's behind it? In the metaverse, augmented and virtual reality technologies merge real and virtual reality. These technologies open up countless possibilities for the digital space and thus also for new business potential in retail. Wenzel gives a compact overview and talks about NFT (non-fungible tokens) and blockchain. He demonstrates how customers can be taken on a digital journey of discovery.

Buy better and make it last – Megatrend Sustainability and its impact on retail, Stefan Nilsson, Trendstefan

Trend expert and journalist Stefan Nilsson will shed light on the sustainability megatrend from a retail perspective. What is sustainable, contributes to saving valuable resources, protects the environment or consists of recycled material is increasingly in demand. In his opinion, sustainability is the most important purchasing criterion of the future and now is the time to actively accompany this change. In his lecture, he will present how small and medium-sized retailers can adapt to this and which concepts and solutions already exist on the market.

Omnichannel is the new normal: Insights from the Google Omnichannel Excellence Study 2022, Judith Büchl, Google Germany GmbH

Just like sustainability, there is no way around omnichannel: omnichannel is "the new normal" - Judith Büchl, Google Omnichannel Retail Lead, is convinced of this. She will present the Google Omnichannel Excellence Study 2022 (GOES) and explain what makes a good customer experience - online and stationary -, which retailers are already omnichannel pioneers and what is required for a seamless shopping experience.
