Summer in a glass
Sparkling aperitifs such as the trendy Sarti Spritz (blood orange, mango, passion fruit), the classic Aperol Spritz or the citrony Limoncello Spritz are inseparably linked to the Mediterranean lifestyle. Alcohol-free cocktail variations, so-called mocktails, as well as high-quality homemade lemonades are also becoming increasingly popular. A brilliant thirst-quencher on hot summer days is infused water, flavoured with lemon, cucumber or herbs.
Keep cool
We love hot days and balmy nights – that’s when summer at home feels like a holiday in the south. In contrast, prosecco and similar drinks prefer to be chilled at 5 to 7 degrees. Young white wine and rosé should not exceed 10 degrees to fully develop their flavour. For quick cooling, an ice bath in a bucket is ideal; alternatively, ice cubes can be added directly to the drink. Wine coolers made of double-walled stainless steel or terracotta, as well as special cooling sleeves, are practical for outdoor dining.
Original bottle cooler and colourful eye-catcher: the “Froid” cooling sleeves by Gift Company combine style and functionality. Their striking colours and designs are guaranteed to attract attention and turn any bottle into a decorative highlight. The application is very simple: pre-chill the sleeve in the freezer, slip it over the bottle – and your favourite drink stays pleasantly cool.
More about the Gift CompanyIt’s Tapas-Time
The apéro is a wonderful tradition of getting into the mood for the evening with a drink, whether as a couple or with friends. Snacks such as olives, nuts, cheese or ham are served alongside. The best-known representatives of this food trend are Spanish tapas. These small appetisers can be served hot or cold and include a wide variety of dishes – from potatoes to seafood. Colloquially, tapas have become synonymous in many countries with all kinds of small starters.
Pizza, pasta & paella
They are the classics of Mediterranean cuisine: pizza, pasta and paella taste great anytime, anywhere and are served around the globe in many variations. With the right equipment, such as a pasta machine and pizza oven, homemade tagliatelle or ravioli are just as successful as a perfectly crisp pizza. A touch of holiday feeling included.
Vive la France!
Cannes, Nice, Saint-Tropez… the Côte d’Azur is the epitome of a Mediterranean holiday. On the French Riviera, a love of good food and a relaxed, laissez-faire attitude come together perfectly. Fresh from the sea, the mussels are served with Provençal herbs. The crispy white loaf, the baguette, has even been part of UNESCO’s intangible cultural heritage since 2022. It is best enjoyed with one of around 1,500 types of cheese.
