Pet-accessoires take the home and living market by storm

10 Jun 2026

Dogs and cats have long since become members of the family, and their owners are increasingly investing in the comfort and quality of life of their beloved four-legged companions. From ergonomic beds and premium blankets to stylishly designed feeding bowls, the range on offer is extensive. The trend is clear: non-food pet products represent an attractive category with growing sales potential for specialist home and living retailers.

Cuddling & playing

We love our furry friends, and they enjoy nothing more than cuddling and playing. That is why the right equipment for dogs and cats is an essential part of the home. Quiet, cosy sleeping areas are just as important as sufficient space for play and exercise. Pet home accessories should not only be robust and durable but should also complement individual interior styles.

Feeding in style

When choosing a food bowl, you should prioritise hygienic materials such as ceramic, stainless steel or enamel, which are easy to clean. The size and shape of the bowl are equally important. It should hold an adequate daily food portion and suit the breed of dog. For cats, feeding bowls should be as flat as possible, as felines have very sensitive whiskers. Constant contact with the rim of the bowl can make eating uncomfortable or even painful.

Wonderfully pet-themed gift ideas

Around 43 per cent of households in Germany own at least one pet, while in the United States the figure rises to 66 per cent. Most of these pets are dogs and cats. In Japan, there are around 15.9 million dogs and cats—more than the number of children under the age of 15. Given this high level of pet ownership, it is no surprise that gift items with a with a “woof” and “meow” factor are extremely popular. These may include porcelain, glassware and home textiles with charming designs, as well as realistic or humorous animal figurines.

Animal figurines by Gustav Ehrenreich

Ever since Danish furniture designer Gustav Ehrenreich created the Hoptimists, these cheerful figures have been spreading joy. Today they are available in many different versions, and naturally dogs and cats are among them. Whether a Corgi, Dalmatian or Pug, these animal-inspired Hoptimists make the perfect gift for dog lovers. For devoted cat enthusiasts, the black kitten and its friends are ready and waiting. They may only bounce a little, but it is enough to lift anyone’s spirits.

Stylish accessories and handy helpers

Pets are our best friends, part of the family, and are therefore often treated to a little extra pampering. This may include thorough grooming or a relaxing massage, while an extra-long walk with plenty of playtime also counts as valuable quality time with their owners. Of course, a tasty treat or two should not be forgotten.
