Creativity "on the go" - Urban Sketching Workshop on Mixed Media Technique with Jenny Adam

24 Jul 2023

Looking for some creative activities for your customers? Captivate them with some hands-on exercises on the latest trends – for example Urban Sketching! The trend of capturing impressions of cityscapes "on the go" has come to stay, and the sketchbook turns into an illustrated diary. Hamburg illustrator Jenny Adam demonstrates how this technique works in the Creative Academy at this year's Creativeworld. Turn your POS into a space for creative encounters, and turn your customers into fans: Grab your pencils, get set, go!

For the local retail, it is increasingly challenging to draw younger customers into the shop: The majority of Gen Z is online. Why should they roam the shops in the pedestrian zone on a Saturday when they can also order everything they want conviently online? Thus, some unusual ideas for the POS are in demand. Why don’t you create some space for inspirational encounters in your shop? Surprise your customers with the trend of Urban Sketching - for example, with a corresponding window display or campaign in your shop. You may find inspiration in the workshop by Hamburg illustrator Jenny Adam.

Urban sketching is creative and sociable: the community is growing; there are now local groups in many cities - perhaps in yours, too? They exchange ideas and share what they have painted via Instagram, blogs and forums. They paint in their own city and on the road, alone or together with others. Urban sketching is more than just an artistic expression: it's an attitude to life. And the great thing about it is that anyone can join in! There is no right and wrong. With your own workshop, you create emotional moments of entertainment around the products. You can provide personal and detailed information about the products used and create added value for your customers - and the word gets around.

„Working in a sketchbook and experimenting with different techniques have helped me find my own artistic expression - they are a part of my life that I can't do without!“

The mixed media technique is her favourite. In the workshop, Jenny shows you how she sketches an urban scene from Frankfurt using the Amsterdam Acrylic Marker, Ecoline Brushpen, Sakura Pigma Micron and the Art Creations Sketchbook from Royal Talens. She uses a photo as a template that shows the silhouette of the city with its skyscrapers. In urban sketching, the focus is always on having fun, not on the perfect result. Turn your buyers into fans: to the pens, get set, go!
