Late summer/autumn look reloaded: creative assortment design & window display with Christmasworld Trends 23+

29 Jun 2023

Year-round style impulses: Christmasworld Trends 23+ offer inspiration for unique assortment and shop window displays throughout the year. One exciting question here is: how can traditionally Christmas products be transformed into a seasonal decoration idea? The Christmasworld trend "calming nature_careful + pleasant", for example, brings natural accents into your showcases and shops - perfect for gently bringing summer to a close and heralding autumn. Claudia Herke from the trend bureau Bora.Herke.Palmisano explains how this can be achieved.

Creative presentations for unique shopping experiences

Ms Herke, what is the importance of assortment design and window dressing in stationary retail?

Visual presentation and a carefully compiled product selection are closely linked. In stationary retail, it is crucial to define oneself through presentations. Customers consciously look for experiences and surprises in stationary retail - this is a clear advantage over online retail! Therefore, it is important to take advantage of the direct approach and the surprise to enchant customers.

How can this succeed?

Individuality is crucial to stand out from the competition. Creative displays and lovingly designed decoration ideas complement each other perfectly to provide a unique atmosphere. Unusual combinations create surprising effects that delight customers.

What tips do you have for designing the assortment and window dressing?

A valuable guide for decoration and product composition is the multi-faceted interpretation of the colour chart. It offers useful orientation and enables the creation of a harmonious atmosphere. To capture the attention of your customers, it is also crucial to set impulses and send clear signals. Here, the budget does not necessarily play the main role - it is the creative idea that counts.

Ms Herke, why do you recommend "calming nature_careful + pleasant" for late summer and early autumn decoration?

The "calming nature_careful + pleasant" style world stands for natural, mindful and sensual decorations. For the beginning autumn season (or late summer), it is ideal to combine soft colours, natural materials and structures. However, we are not talking about the conventional reddish autumn colours here, but rather the refreshing effect of the cooler pastel shades, which find a new meaning.

"calming nature careful + pleasant considers the relationship between human beings and nature. The ideas for sensitive and mindful decorations revolve around life cycles and transience. The designs are natural, hyper-tactile and sensual and dissolve the boundaries between art, craft and technology with creativity and sustainable thinking. The arrangements constantly radiate a calm vitality and a close-to-nature minimalism."

What could a concrete implementation in the retail sector look like?

In this special implementation, the focus is on geological designs such as rocks, minerals and rough stones. At this year's Christmasworld Trend Show, we selected images of rough stones that perfectly matched the theme in terms of colour and presented them as a display. For the decoration, we specifically chose objects that reflect the cool blue tones of the stones. Ceramics, glass, napkins, candles and decorative all-season baubles can be perfectly combined with the geological rock displays. Whether in the form of two-dimensional displays or by using collected stones and boulders - they are ideal for decoration.

In turn, in what ways can the warm tones be expressed in a window display?

If you are looking for inspiration for the warm hue of the colour range, materials such as cardboard, rattan, wicker and wood are ideal. These are also perfect for a matching decoration in late summer or at the beginning of autumn. Especially mossy branches serve as true colour inspiration and can be directly reflected in the selected products. The charming combination and composition creates an appealing atmosphere.
